About me

I have been in the health and wellness industry for over 15 years and am the co-founder of CM Wellness. My business was established with the vision to make wellness a standard to anyone and everyone.Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of clients; including those with a disability (physical and mental), mental health conditions, sporting teams, families who need guidance in simple lifestyle changes and companies to help their staff manage stress.

From my extensive experience, I have seen specific patterns and habits that often lead to lifestyle problems. My goal is to help teach people simple healthy habits, not matter their situation. I give them tools and strategies to help make wellness a standard in their life.

I have an easy-going nature and a great enthusiasm for life, health and wellness. My empathetic and accepting personality make me an effective Holistic Health and Exercise Coach, and I pride myself on being able to immediately put all types of people at ease.

I’m a lifelong learner and continue to upskill himself in the industry. I recently completed a 9-month intensive breathwork course and have become a qualified Trauma-Informed Breathwork Facilitator. I am passionate about serving to anyone that is ready to make change within.

My story

It wasn’t until my own breath was taken away that I realised the power of the breath.

In 2019 I took part in an annual charity run through the national park with a group of mates. Egos were on the line as we set out and ultimately it would be my ego that let me down.

200m outside from the finish line I felt my body starting to shut down, I had pushed to my absolute limit to this point. Next thing I knew I was collapsed on the ground, mates all around me and falling in and out of consciousness. It wasn’t until later that the ambulance officers told me they couldn’t even get a reading on my blood pressure as I was rushed to Emergency. I literally thought I was going to die.

After days of testing and blood work, I met with the heart specialist who plainly said; I collapsed because my body was shutting down. If I had of continued to push, my body would’ve gone into cardiac arrest and I would no longer be here.

What I didn’t realise was the next 2 years sent me into a bit of a downward spiral and I began to suffer crippling panic attacks, feeling short of breath, tightness in my chest and heart racing. At first it was just when I went for a run. Memories from the event flooded back, I wouldn’t be able to catch my breath and my body would feel like it was going to shut down again. This was not fun my friends!

These panic attacks started to filter into my everyday life. I remember going to the playground with my daughter and feeling like I couldn’t breathe or be present with her. Socialising with friends, visiting my parents, working on my business, even being in my own home on any given day and I would start to feel the tightness in my chest creep in.

I remember going to a medical centre on Christmas Eve in absolute desperation for answers. I was quickly prescribed Valium which I used to get through Christmas and the days that followed which were usually ones of fun and relaxation with my family, instead I was excusing myself every hour or so to try and get a grip and calm my body down as it would flow into absolute panic.

I felt like this panic was keeping me from living my life. I slid into a depressive state that would further impact my mental health.

After seeking professional help I was able to acknowledge I’d suffered PTSD from the event. Doctors prescribed all sorts of drugs and told me to stop any sort of hard exercise and see a counsellor.

I truly believe medication is important and has its place. For the last 15 years I’ve been a trainer and a wellness coach, owning my own business. Health and wellness is what I live and breathe so although I see a place for medical intervention, I didn’t want to become reliant on those medications day in day out. I turned to learning about natural ways to heal my mind and body.

Throughout the past year I have been studying the Owaken Breath principals and techniques. During the course I learnt the run that day was one part of my trauma. There were so many unhealed traumas in my body that I was holding onto for such a long time. I have healed and still healing parts of me through techniques I have learnt in breathwork.

Through the course I have been able to heal my mind and body and go back to living my life to its fullest potential, free from panic attacks.

I believe in life that challenges will undoubtedly face us and we can choose to allow these challenges to influence our daily lives in a negative or positive way. I know that through Reset Within I can serve others and facilitate their healing so they can regain control of their life and live to their potential.

The body, mind and breath are incredibly powerful in the way they can control our thoughts, feelings and actions. I now want to empower others to use their own breath to give them their power back.
